The story behind Mitsubishi.

A Japanese automotive manufacturer with U.S. SUV and crossover offerings, including the Outlander family.

An industrial identity before the motor company

The three-diamond mark comes from Mitsubishi’s nineteenth-century industrial origins, not from the founding of Mitsubishi Motors in 1970. Early automobile work included the Model A, completed in 1918. The badge therefore connects the car business to a wider industrial history, while the modern manufacturer’s own organization began much later.

A separate automaker and an engineering reputation

Mitsubishi Motors became a separate company in 1970. Models such as Lancer and Pajero helped establish a recognizable automotive identity, with competition and four-wheel-drive development contributing to that reputation. The company’s history also records emissions engineering and electric development, showing a broader technical business than its best-known rally cars alone suggest.

Utilities and plug-in electrification in America

The present U.S. retail range concentrates on Outlander, Outlander Sport and Eclipse Cross. Outlander PHEV is retained as a distinct catalog offering because its electric-driving capability is central to the vehicle’s proposition. The announced Eclipse Sportback EV is separated from available models, and familiar discontinued cars are kept in history instead of being listed as new vehicles.
