Tags are a complementary discovery layer to the main category system. While categories group vendors by their primary function — DMS, CRM, website platform — tags capture cross-cutting capabilities, integrations, and use cases. A vendor might appear in the "Dealer CRM" category and also carry tags like "AI-powered", "mobile-first", or "integrates-with-CDK", giving you a more granular way to filter and compare.
Common tag groups include technology stack indicators (cloud-based, on-premise), integration compatibility (CDK, Reynolds, Tekion), customer segment focus (franchise, independent, enterprise), and feature flags (digital retailing, AI chat, video walkaround). Tags let you slice the directory differently depending on what matters most to your evaluation.
Use tags when you know the specific capability or integration you need but aren't sure which category to start in — or when you want to find every vendor in the directory that offers a particular feature, regardless of their primary category.
The tag system also powers related-vendor recommendations across the directory. When you're viewing a vendor profile, the tags attached to that vendor surface similar tools with overlapping capabilities — helping you build a shortlist of alternatives to evaluate alongside your current option without starting from scratch.
