Bruce McLaren’s New Zealand connection
Bruce McLaren formed his racing team in 1963. Michael Turner’s first crest included a kiwi, a reference to Bruce’s New Zealand homeland. The symbol later became the Speedy Kiwi, while the team’s increasingly international business brought new identities and partnerships rather than one unchanged logo.

The 1990s joined McLaren’s racing identity to a growing road-car operation. The F1 became a defining early road car, and the later Automotive business developed series-production supercars. The 2025 CYVN transaction created a new corporate ownership chapter, distinct from a change to the racing team’s entire history.

The streamlined speedmark appeared in 1997 and evolved with the broader graphic system. Today it remains at the center of Automotive’s identity, alongside revived heritage motifs. The current U.S. product families include Artura, 750S, GTS and the limited-run 788HS, while W1 belongs to the limited-allocation flagship program.
